Cedar Lake’s Books on Wheels program presently supplies books, audio books and puzzles to home-bound patients in our service area. We maintain a growing library of books, both hard copies and audio, which are presently delivered by our nurses to our reading patients, and also through Meals on Wheels. These books are available on loan to any shut-in in our area, even if they are on another home care service.
Around the Town
Our owner, Loretta Humble, began a column called Around the Town back when she owned our local weekly newspaper, The Malakoff News. She still writes it and has created a companion Facebook page as a service to the community.
Friends of Old Town Malakoff
Cedar Lake’s home office is located in a semi-historic building in downtown Malakoff. Malakoff has an interesting history, having once been a coal mining boom town. Now however, many stores are closed, and some have sadly been destroyed. Friends of Old Malakoff are seeking to bring the downtown area back to life. Staff members taking an active role in its resurrection.
Meals on Wheels
We provide a driver one day a week for Meals on Wheels.
